Check with Timeline in Los Angeles. They have really good prices on surplus
LCDs (last time I checked...)

I am looking to find a couple of large and cheap LCDs or VFDs for an mp3
player project. The must have an HD44870 interface. I want something at
least 20*4, 40*4 would be best. I do not want something with a serial
interface. Where can I find some at surplus prices? Does anyone have some
    to sell?

    Hello Ed,

You could try bgmicro.com. Be careful with 4x40 displays - they have two
enable lines and can't be driven the same as displays with <80 characters...

    Cheers, Duncan

    Hello,

I have a small fortune tied up in DENSITRON 4 X 20 backlit LCD Displays.
They are exactly what you are looking for. Brand new (still in original
packaging), I purchased them from an auction my company held a few years
back. We originally paid $75.00 US for them. If you are interested, You can
    have them for $10 each.

    Jon,
I would be interested in 4 or 5 of your lcd's. Do your modules have any
type of backlighting ? How can I arrange purchase on these ?

    Regards,
    John

    Hello John,

Yes the displays have electroluminescent backlighting panels, they require
an inverter (+5 to 80 VAC) which I will supply. Visit my website to see if
they are what you require, and leave me a message at my e-mail link.
http://sites.netscape.net/protelboy I will contact you off the e-group and
    we can arrange shipment.

    regards,

    Jon Enoch
