Here's a very newbie question for my initial post:
I have a problem with my connection for my STAMP-1 system. I have it
connected via my 25 pin parallel port (to pins 2,11,25), and it is
plugged into the carrier board with the 9V battery attached. However
whenever I try to run any programs, I keep getting a "ERROR <>
Hardware not found" message. I can't figure out what the problem is.
I
checked all connections with a multimeter, and they seem to be in
order, but I am pretty ignorant when it comes to port setting on a
computer. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

University of Pittsburgh
specifically for the BS1. (assuming you haven't already done that.)
Then, here is a trick question. . . Is the computer fairly new? If
so, go into the BIOS and see what type of port it actually is.
The coices will be somethng like:
normal
bi-directional
ECC
EPP
and variations.
Try normal and bi-directional and see what happens.
Another stupid question. . .
Do you have a printer? What brand and model? Some of them wish to
stay connected and 'talking' to a printer, and if you have one of
these it may be jacking with the parallel port trying to 'talk' to
the printer as you are trying to talk to the stamp.

port, or with the STAMP-1. I am using the DOS version, as the only
version I can find for the BS-1 device.
I still can't connect, is there a way to debug the connection in the
DOS program?
