Does anyone know if there is a serial keyboard interface available
for the stamp or does anyone have ideas how it could be done?

There is a serial keypad being released at the moment, contact Ron at
    www.nollet.com.au for information.
I think it is a 4 x 4 pad and it is simply serial at 9600, easy to talk to
    stamp.

Also check eLabs (www.elabinc.com) for the EDE serial encoder. Takes the
input from a keypad up to 4x4 and outputs the key code via serial link
(TTL). I've used these and work great. It gives you the flexibility to use
    whatever keypad you want.

    Cheers,

    Mike

    Peter:
Rentron.com has an IC for a 10 key, (or less), common buss keypad.
elabinc.com has an IC for a 16 (or less) matrix keypad. Both talk serially
    to a Stamp or microcontroller.

    Try http://www.al-williams.com/awce/pak6.htm -- You can read a PS/2
keyboard, mouse, or keypad. By default the characters come in as normal
ASCII with some characters >$80 for special keys. You can also switch to
cooked mode and read a mouse, or the scan codes right off the keyboard.

    Al Williams
