"rolling your own" basic stamp II was easy. Get the parts, assemble and then
insert some source code.
I was wondering if anyone out there had this source code available or, as an
alternative, knew of a program compiler out there that would take in BS2
computer commands and turn them into PIC?
Did not find anything on the parallax or microchip websites so I was curious.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I know http://www.rentron.com carries PicBasic Pro which does exactly what
you are asking here...

I'm trying to introduce a friend to the Basic Stamp, and he has asked, do you
have an emulator for the BS2?
I can't remember it being discussed. Anyone know?

Brian Forbes wrote a book titled Inside the BASIC Stamp II that has a comprehensive list of the BS2 bytecodes.
pbi(www.github.com/EliasGroll/pbi) will support bs2 as well. we made a new logical concept that does not need any bytecode, but implements the complete virtual machine with all its functionality. in fact pbi is no "real" emulator at all, its more a unique programming language that operates on the virtual machine we implemented. to emulate the bs1 we modeled a virtual machine for the bs1 and implemented its syntax and commands. if you give us some time, too, there will be bs2 support. at the moment were optimizing the concept. we already have a live eeprom debugger, user input, dynamic & native debugging, code-testing, content assistance, auto indent and of course: the possibility to run your program without a microcontroller plugged in.
