i'm using the gp2d05 on a project and i reversed Vin and Vout. the
sensor still works, but the Vout logic levels are simply reversed
(normally a 1....0 when an object is detected). is there any harm in
doing this??

The logic levels aren't reversed, that's the way the unit functions
normally. It would appear that everything is just fine.

i guess my confusion is the documentation that came with the sensor.
it says that when the sensor is detecting, the output is a 1. what
    am i misunderstanding here??
