Has anyone used a pic step or pic servo with a StampII?
If so, how did you get around the RS-485 protocal or
did you find a EASY way of controlling two units on one
stamp

The RS-485 wouldn't seem to be the primary problem, from my viewpoint. If
it were, the Simple Sequencer might be used to overcome it.
All of the sample programs I saw appear to use programming languages which
are capable of multi-tasking or at least high-speed bi-directional
communication with 16 or 32 bit math at PC execution speeds. That doesn't
necessarily make it prohibitive to use a Stamp (RAM considerations - SX -
maybe), just exceedingly difficult. The standard installations appear to
use the PC - is that a problem ?
