Stamp II Troubles with Laptop,
Archiver
Posts: 46,084
Hello to the group,
I have been having trouble getting my laptop to communicate with my
Stamp II. Digging through the archived messages, there are numerous
indirect references to problems with laptop Stamp programming but I
haven't found any specifics or fixes to this problem.
I am getting the typical- 'Stamp found but is not communicating,
check power supply' - message. The stamp II itself is a BS2SX
running on a Board of Education with the standard 9-pin D connector
going out of the laptop and into the BOE. I have tested and run the
chip off my desktop, so I am sure the cable, power supply, chip, and
BOE work fine. I have also tried to communicate with both the DOS
(stamp2sx) and the Windows version (stampw) editors, neither work. I
have tried rebooting the system in DOS mode (non-floppy mode) for the
DOS editor, and still no luck.
I am running Windows 98 on a new IBM ThinkPad - A20m 800 PIII. I
have an internal 10/100+modem card installed in addition to the free
Serial port that I am using for the Stamp. I figured the network
card may be confusing the editor, so I have already checked and
rechecked the system settings to be sure the stamp is using the right
COM port. My instinct is that I may need to somehow change the COM
settings on the serial port, but I don't know how to do this...
Anyone out there have ideas on what to try next?
Thanks in advance,
- Sean
