GPS --> BS2 Stamp (Plus Antenna)

Hi all,
I'm just after receiving my first GPS receiver, so I have a couple of
questions regarding interfacing the Gps to the stamp, will I need
some sort of conversion software (code) so the stamp can read the
data from the GPS.
Also what sort of antenna should I use. (would an antenna from a
mobile phone do the job)
thanks in advance
paul

There are all kinds of code snippets floating around to read NMEA
data streams from GPS devices. I don't have one handy, but a
search of this list's past posts or Deja News should turn-up more
    than a few.

Also what sort of antenna should I use.

One specifically intended for your GPS. You can actually build
one, but it's not a great performer and I wouldn't recommend it as a
project if you're not familiar with microwave frequency radio.

    Definately not.

Our Learning Centre has some top-notch links for GPS. I'm sure
you'll find more specifi info in there.

NMEA is ASCII at 4800 baud. You'll probably have to parse on the fly since
the STAMP doesn't have enough memory to store all the strings.

Some require an active antenna with a minimum gain rating. Others will
work with a passive. You can get a passive patch antenna module from Digi-
    Key.
