Parallax servo motors

HI,

I have two questions concerning servo motors included in the Parallax robotic
kits.
1) What reference is this? I suppose parallax don't manufacture its own servos
but use a Futaba or something like that...
2) Why don't we need to do the resistor modification stuff, as for most as the
other servo modification I can see on the web?

Thanks for your help

Nicolas

No, they're made by another company -not Futaba.

The modification that Parallax describes is equivalent to the
"resistor modification stuff" but is much simpler. The only
disadvantage is that in very rough environments, the resistor
method is a little more reliable as there is no chance of vibrations
    altering the adjustment.

Here, we always use the method Parallax describes and have
    never had any problems.

    HI Mark,

Thanks for the info. No way to get the reference of the servos from the
    manufacturer XXX?

I presume that by 'reference', you mean 'specifications'. I'm sure
they exist somewhere, but I wouldn't know. I think you'll find that
besides the current draw (which is a little higher than the Futabas)
they'll look alot like an FP-S147. The FP-S147 specs can be found
here: http://www.hvwtech.com/servos.htm and there is a link on
that page to a photo-tutorial on modifying the FP-S147 using the
    method Parallax describes.
