My dumb question
Is it possible to generate 5V and 50mA from a small rechargeable battery of a camera that is 1.5V and 200mA ? Or am I just in some dream land and hoping for just too much here· :) ?
Do I need to build a converter of some kind? How do I build this thing ? I have no clue.
Please help
thanks a lot

You could do it with a DC to DC converter, or some sort of voltage multiplier. Digi-Key and others sell DC to DC converters. Forrest Mims book Getting Started In Electronics (Radio Shack) has a number of voltage multiplier circuits built with diodes.

MAXIM makes various ics for stepping 1 or 2 cells up to 3.3 or 5V. Also
check Linear Technologies.
