Lasers

This isn't necessarily totally related (Though I am planning on doing some
laser stuff with the stamp), but does anyone have a good laser resource?
I'd like to get something in the 3-5 mw range, and I'm not really sure
what all the 'pieces' are to a working laser system - diodes, tubes, power
supplies, etc.

Thanks.

An easy way to get a working laser diode is to purchase a laser pointer at
an office supply store. I recently bought an Apollo Mini Laser Pointer
#MP600, 3mW @ 650nm. It was quite easy to disassemble. You end up with a
small metal enclosed laser diode soldered to a tiny PC board. Solder a
couple of wires to it and connect it to a 3 volt supply and you're all set
    to experiment.
