Vision system

I remember hearing about using memory chips as basic vision sensors. Can
anyone point me in the right direction as to how to do this? Or, if there's
a cheaper/easier way?

    And let's not forget everyones favorite GameBoy camera! $10 can't beat it. I
    think the Encoder - www.seattlerobotics.org/encoder/ may have some articles
    about it. Nobody has had any documented achievement with the BS yet.
