sound and proceed. This might be a good idea. I know that Nagi's
ALIBE (miniature autonomous robot) does this too. In his application,
it was okay to pause every few cycles to detect. It might be okay
with my application as well...
Your ideas might give me another perspective...

Depending upon your "power plant" and/or energy source, you may find that -
1) you have to, or 2) it is more desirable than you imagine at the moment.
By way of example, Alkaline batteries do REAL well, when given a chance to
recuperate. Steady current drain is NOT in their best interest
- recharagable or not.
Just my 2 cents

Hi Jack,
This is what I did.
I used a LM386 Op-Amp (Audio amp) and IC. Hooked them up as per the data sheet. The MIC connects to the Non-Inverting input Pin3 on the LM. The output from the LM is off of the pin5 that can be hooked up with the BS2's pin and checked for hi when sound is detected.
Now, this will basically tell you whether there is sound or not. If you want to check the level of sound, one must use ADC chip to figure that out I think.
Hope this helps
P.S:
I'm new to BS2 and electronics too. I get help and info from all the gurus who participate in this newsgroup forum and also from the tech support guys at parallax.

Thank you. How should I go about detecting sound. Please advise.
