The answer is, the capacitor acts like a battery when the servos start and draw a lot of current. If you didn't have the cap across the leads, the then the high start current would cause the Stamp to reset. Generally it is much better to use a separate power source for motors and circuitry, noisy signals and spikes can occur. Plus, a servo will drain a 9v battery pretty quick.

I know this question was already posted by someone in the recent past and was also answered by somebody. So, pardon the repeat!!
In the above manual, we use a 3300mf cap across the Vdd and Vss, can anyone tell me why ? Also, why is the servo connected to Vin and not Vdd ? I thought I knew why, but, I had amnesia [noparse]:)[/noparse]
