new stamp project - Roswell Flyer clone

ArchiverArchiver Posts: 46,084
edited 2000-10-03 02:19 in General Discussion
I have cleaned up the design a little bit more and started a section for
this stamp project on the webpage

http://www.inetport.com/~davisele/fc.html

pick top link

I ordered the pwm chip and believe that I have 3 gyro chips on the way

the three main areas that I need to work on are the mechanical design and
the software, and learning the parameters of the gyro chips

I already have code to get control inputs from the radio receiver into the
stamp (bx-24)

I already have the power electronics sorted out

I believe that the gyros are going to be a simple connection to the on-board
a/d

I do need help finding the appropriate electric motor with the reduction
drive and propeller

I can use Roswell flyer parts but 4 motors, 4 propellers, 4 reduction drives
and 4 bearing assy are going to cost about $90 delivered

please let me know about cheaper sources

here is my preliminary budget (assuming you already have R/C equipment)

cpu $39
pwm chip $39
mechanics ~$30 (junk box parts) or ~$90 new
total $170

(you can buy a ready fly one for $350 - but this is a stamp
project/programming exrcise - right ?) ;-)

    Richard,
These look good provided that +-90 deg/sec maximum rate is fast enough for
your application. I need the +-300 deg/sec that Murata provides for mine.
