I just received the BASIC STAMP SUPER CARRIER board. I assumed it
would take the STAMPII chip. I see not all the pins are wired to the
DB9 connector. I had thought this would have been a plug 'n play
deal.
I can't find a schematic of this board on the website. SO what did I
buy?
I assume I have to wire the board for pins 4 and 5 which weren't
wired to the DB9 connector (for the STAMPII chip)
Please help this new user out.
Thanks
Jay

carrier board. There is only 4 wires that need to be used on the DB-9
connector (pins 2, 3, 4, and 5) which are connected to pins 1, 2, 3, and 4
of the basic stamp. all you need is a serial cable from your computer to
the super carrier board and you are wired up. (the serial cable wire is a
female DB-9 on one end and a male DB-9 on the other. Of course, the stamp
and carrier board doesnt do much until you interface it with some external
circuitry like LEDs or motors etc. I hope this helps.

You don't need to do any wiring to connect the board to your PC for
downloading. I don't have the board in front of me now (I'm at work), but
have used it. It functions perfectly as sent to you for downloading. Just
be sure to socket the BSII correctly, and use a serial download cable (<Not>
a "null-modem" data transfer cable). Good luck!

for more info, including a schematic of the board, go to:
http://www.parallaxinc.com/
click on the "down loads" button on the nav bar on the left hand side of the
page. It's about half way down the page, in the "BASIC Stamp Kits and
Accessories" section. It is a .pdf file that you will need the Adobe
Acrobat reader to see.
