Load cell

Hi,

Has anyone used a load cell with a Stamp?

I'm interested in measuring a spring pressure
and figured a load cell would be a very good
canidate for the application.

Thanks,

Dave

I haven't used them specifically with the stamp, but they simply
output an analog value proportional to pressure. Some signal
conditioning may be required to bring the voltage span into a good
range for the A/D you may be using.

Some load cells are just resistors (strain gauges) which may be used
as a leg of balanced bridge, or possible used in an RCTime function.

Just pick out a load cell that meets your needs, and how you want to
apply it. They come in many 'flavors'.

Use S-Plot Pro to graphically represent your data!

Load cell need high performance signal conditioning component like 1B31 and
    1B32 from Analog Devices.
LTC2400 from Linear Technology is A/D for weigh scale applications, look at
    data sheet,there is a code for BS2.
AD7730 is a complete device accepts signal directly from load cell and
outputs a serial digital word .

    Hello Alan

I am interested in this application.
Can you guide me to any site that show
    details of this project?
    Thnak you.

I am looking for an inexpensive load cell, for the range on the order of 20 lbs,
    +- 1% accuracy.

DOes any one know of some good load cells? The cheapest I have seen are about
$300. Which is a bit more than I hope to pay.

Can you use an inexpensive digital weigh scale? Most of those use a strain
gauge / load cell that is reasonably sensitive, coupled to a lever system
that transforms the scale range to that of the measurement beam. You would
have to modify those levers to give you the range that you need.

I've done this in the past - it was not very difficult.

You might want to go to:

They have a couple under $100.
I have used several without problems, but not for several years.
They have a much larger product line now with most in the $300
    and up range.
