Handy robot platform

I found a great source for a robot platform. Its a remote controlled
bulldozer at K-B Toys. It was marked down from $80 to 19.95. I picked up
2 - I can always return them. It has catepillar tracks (independantly
controlled) and a nice large platform to put my BS2. I haven't figured out
what I'll do with the front shovel (no, its not motorized).
If anyone needs something similar, I suggest you check your local K-B toys.
I also found (on the net) a 6 volt autoreloading pellet gun that I plan to
attach to it. My neighbor has one of these and it shoots 6mm rubber beads
pretty hard and far (it stings a little). My goal is to make a pet
harasser - see motion, track it, shoot it.

similur, only I'm using hacked Laser Tag guns. At Toys-R-Us I picked up a
two gun pack for $19.99 My goal is to make robot that can try to shoot at me
with out getting hit.
Where did you find your autop reloading pellet gun? I'd like to check that
out.

shoot,or track a human/animal
What are you planning to use for the tracking system?
what about aiming etc etc. if you wish to contact me offlist my email is

One of my neighbors have one. It shoots rapidly and good distance. Getting
hit is like a real hard static shock. They are about the width of laptop
I'd say. It would take some hacking to reduce its firing mechanism to a
decent size, but its doable.

paper, but I'm hoping to have an array of 2 IR Range finders at right angle
to each other(accurate from 4 to 31 inches) scan back and forth a quarter
turn (each taking 90 degrees)on the same servo - this would give me a 180
degree range. I'm not going to try 360 degrees, not at first anyway. The
robot platform would have to stay still for a moment, and read the distances
for 180 degrees. After it establishes a perimeter by storing the distances
in an array, it will contunually compare new readings for any drastic
increase/decrease. When it finds one, it would have to turn to that angle
and shoot.
I'm concerned about tracking the location of the IR range angle position (I
may use a encoder ring) and I'm also concerned about having enough memory to
store the ranges. I'm considering using a BX24 for the project instead. I
don't have anything invested yet.
I'd eventually like to have 360 degree view, and have the robot go 10 feet
into the room, stop, watch for movement and then attack.
I tried this project years ago with a 68HC11 with not much success. I had
problems with the IR ranging, but now they have the electronics in one
package which was my largest problem.
Like I said, until I actually start work on it, I'll probably try to hang
low with the project.

I would very much like to keep abreast of your work on the robots that
shoot,or track a human/animal
