It is likely that you are experiencing a voltage surge when
connecting and or disconnecting your supply. Try adding a resistor
in series with your power supply and a decoupling cap across the IC's
power and ground. Try 10 - 100 ohms. BCS

    Hello,
I have built a counter circuit using MC14553 (3-digit BCD counter) with 9v
NI-CD rechargeable battery to retain count in the event of power failure. The
problem is that some times the counter is reset with disconnecting or
reconnecting the main power.Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank You
    Mohamed Refky
