What's the deal with bi-polar steppers? Why don't i ever hear of bi-polar
controllers? Are my bi-polar motors useless? Thank-You in advance for your
reply.

Bi-polar steppers (4 wires- 2 coils) are most common. Unipolar steppers (6
or 8 wires) are less common and slightly more complex to drive. Driving
bipolar steppers is fairly straight forward, check this link for a
    description of the sequence:

yes, sorry to tell you that your bi-polar steppers are worthless...so SEND
    THEM TO ME! hehe

Just kidding of course. There are tons of great stepper links on the net.
Unfortunately, I can only point you to some indirectly. Surf to
www.hobbycnc.com and prowel through the links. You'll find a great wealth
of stepper info, including sources, driver details, code, etc there.

    Regards

    Hi,
I have a bipolar stepper motor driver which will not only run bipolar motors
but unipolar motors as well. You can find the info at:
    www.microcontrollertricks.cjb.net
I hope the info proves helpful. I show a PIC 16F84 chip and the software is
written in JAL, however I have plenty of tables and explanations that would
make it simple to be run from a stamp.

Now you have the opportunity to check out a bipolar stepper motor controller
first hand and all the theory that goes along with it.

    Hope this helps,
