com port problems

Can anybody help me with a very desperate problem. For some time now I've
been trying to get my homemade BS2 programmer to work, but my problems don't
lie with my programmer, but my computer. It seems that my Chaintech CT-5AGM2
motherboard was only shipped with one pin serial connector and one 25pin
serial connector, oh and the usual 25pin parallel port. Since I cant get the
Basic stamp manual to download I wondered if anybody knew how to connect the
BS2 to the 25pin serial port, I've tried the usual pin 1 to pin 1 etc but
that didn't work.
Thanks in advance. (sorry this is so long)

The connections required are as follows:
DB9 Stamp DB25
Pin Function Pin Function Pin
2 Rx 1 SOUT
3
3 Tx 2 SIN
2
4 DTR 3 ATN
20
5 GND 4 VSS
7
6 DSR - -
6
7 RTS - -
4
Pins 6 and 7 of a DB9 (6 and 4 for a DB25) are connected together to allow
the Stamp software to identify which port the BS2 is connected to.
Make sure you identify the pins on the DB25 as follows:
Female:
13 1
\
/
25 14
Male:
1 13
\
/
14 25

If you don't want to make your own, about $5 should get you an adapter from
a local computer shop.

So I spent most of the day driving round Limassol looking for a computer
shop that sold com port adapters. I did find one eventually. Now I have
successfully modified and calibrated my servos.
Many thanks away.

I checked in a serial communication book, and I found this :
Stamp PC 9-pin PC 25-pin
Sout (1) 2
3
Sin (2) 3
2
Attn (3) 4
20
Vss (4) 5
7
Auto detect 6 6
Auto detect 7 4
For automatic com port detection by the editor, connect pins 6 and 4
together on Stamp side of the cable (or on the stamp board). If you use a
super carrier board, this bridge is already on the board.
Best regards,
Philippe Derenne

Thanks for the advice but somebody already gave me the 25 pin outs, and It
did not work, so I jumped in the car and drove all round Limassol to find a
shop that would sell either a com port adapters (to fit my mother board) or
a serial interface card. I managed to get a hold of the com port adapters.
My home made BoE now works, and I've successfully converted and calibrated
my servos. Now the fun begins. Thanks again for you help.
