Hi

I was wondering if anyone has info on an ultrasonic drive circuit to generate
high power ultrasonic pulses to vaporize liquid?

Also any info on ultrasonic crystal or element construction would be great.

Thanks

Jon

    Jon,

I saw some water vaporizers at a craft store recently. Seems they're used
to make fog for fountains. The whole assembly goes for less than $40 and
looks like only two cubic inches or so...

I believe this is how 'cool air' household humidifiers work ie. Bionaire.
It would likely be pretty simple to salvage the elelment from one of these...

My local electronics shop sells 40Khz ultrasonic transducers for $5.00 but I
have know idea how to drive one. I too would like to vaporize small volumes
    of water.
I would be more than happy to send one to you if you like. Maybe you'll be
able to get it to work.

    gall stones

You can look at flea markets or drug stores for nebulizers or cold (not
steam) humidifiers. The piezo element operates at high frequencies, in the
mhz range. Here is a company that manufactures OEM nebulizer modules:

Even lower-powered ultrasonic cleaners can interact with fluids of the inner
ear, leading to a weird spaced-out feeling lasting for several hours.
