i have a boe board and i was playing around with the 3300 uf cap and a nine volt battery wen i went to but the cap back on the boe board conected to Vdd and Vss i forgot to discharge it and now i can write to it.· it is detected but says check power supply.

    Todd:
Many regulators are easily damaged by applying voltage to their output
terminal with no input voltage. This is what you may have done with the
charged cap. If so, you probably just have to change the regulator.

I agree with Ray. I even think it's the only way to destroy a
regulator...Anyway, there is a trick to avoid this problem : put a diode
between input and output of the regulator (anode to the output, cathode to
the input, FOR A POSITIVE VOLTAGE REGULATOR).
If the output voltage becomes higher than the input, the current will flow
    thru the diode.
    Best regards,

The main regulator is fine but the stamp itself is messed up. I spent a
while checking everything out and there is not +5v on pin 2 of the pic16c57
is my bs2 garbage now or what?
