L293D is the one I have used with steppers successfully. I think the D
specifies that it already has the diodes you need to control the inductive
spikes as part of the chip.

    hello all!

    Problem with the l293. There are many types if i search by ic-master, what
    kind should i use to run a lego motor? I thought they where all h bridges,
    but if i look by the discriptions they all are a little bit different.
