Hello,
Parallax is now offerring the EME Systems (http://www.emesystems.com) BASIC
Stamp Field Programmer. This small device can load your BASIC Stamp II, IIE,
or IISX programs with the click of a button. It costs $139 from Parallax.
You can also buy this from EME Systems.
Details are at http://www.parallaxinc.com - scroll down the page a bit to
see it.
Makes field programming a snap. It's created plenty of excitement here in
the office with our staff Stampers.
Sincerely,

Infomercial:
You hook it up to a PC just as if you were programming a Stamp, and use RUN
from STAMP2.EXE or from STAMPW.EXE to transfer the program to the Stache
eeprom memory. Then when you get out to your field site, or factory floor,
or classroom, or competition, or even to the other side of your own shop,
you can plug the Stache into a Stamp-based system and press the button on
the Stache. The program will then be transferred from the Stache to the
Stamp and it will run just as if you had programmed it directly from the
PC. This is especially convenient if you need a foolproof way to program a
Stamp. For my own data loggers, it is a way to upgrade firmware out at
field sites, in a rocking boat in the rain for example. It is something I
can loan to customers to do their own field upgrades with a high
probability of success, without asking them to mess with the programming
code and tools and cable hassles on an unknown PC (in a rocking boat).
The Stache can hold up to 15 BSII, IIe or IIsx programs at once. At the PC
end, you put a special DATA statement at the head of the program to
identify it by number. Out in the field, you hold down the pushbutton on
the stache and observe the LED until it flashes at one second intervals the
number of times corresponding to the project you want to upload into your
Stamp. Then you release the button and the program of that number is
loaded into the stamp. The default program, number zero, does not require
any special DATA statement, and it is loaded into the Stamp with one quick
click on the pushbutton.
If you work with the BS2e or BS2sx, the Stache automatically keeps track of
all the programs (up to 8) that belong to a project, and uploads the whole
project at once to the Stamp. You can create overlays that update only
selected program banks of a BSIIe or BSIIsx system.
The Stache can simultaneously hold programs and projects for all three
types of Stamps. It recognizes the type of program being downloaded from
the PC, and in the field it recognizes the type of Stamp it is connected
to. The program numbering is separate for each kind of Stamp, that is,
there can be a program number 1 for each type of Stamp.
This product is a collaborative effort. Another list member here, Steve
Parkis, wrote the Scenix code for this. I want to thank him here in public
for a really fabulous job. Also I want to thank the folks at Parallax for
their enthusiasm, and also of course for the Stamp.
