I 'd like to build a mobile robot using the BS2 with a motor mind B
connected to a 6v motor (from a little tykes ride on ). For steering I
was thinking of using a servo motor.
My question ,can the motor mind B be used without the TACH ?
Could someone steer me in the right direction? Maybe a stepper motor for
the steering,

I'm not familiar with the motor you're referring to, but I highly doubt
that the Motor Mind can handle the current for it. The TACH feature
is something you don't have to use -it just makes things more
precise if you do.
For your steering, you haven't said how large this robot will be or
what it will have to do, but a hobby servo may or may not be strong
enough. I generally don't recommend steppers as they are often
finicky and require high-current drivers and many more I/O lines
than a servo.
I think if you post an outline of what you hope to build and what it
needs to do, that people on the list will be better able to make
suggestions.
