Is that a book for beginners? Do anyone here have any
other good references to self-study books for beginners
of robotics?

    Hi Joel,

There are tons of resources out there which is one of the things that
makes the Stamp a great tool. Try our Stamp FAQ
    (http://www.al-williams.com/wd5gnr/stampfaq.htm). It has an article
about getting started and links to many other major resources. (Hint: if
your site is not listed, ask!)

I'm sure you'll get lots of other answers pointing you to the different
sites around, but one other page we provide is the "Stamp Project of the
Month" (which is 4 years old in December). We do something different
every month and nearly always with the Stamp (once in a while it is
    something related). http://www.al-williams.com/awce/som.htm

As for starter kits, there are a lot more options than there used to be.
Parallax has a variety of boards you can use. We make an adapter that
lets you use any common breadboard (which is nice since you can use a
large board). http://www.al-williams.com/awce/asp2.htm The ASP-2 comes
with a "lab manual" of experiments. We have a kit of parts available for
it, although nearly all the parts are garden variety things you could
    get at Radio Shack.

There are a few books out there on the Stamp including mine, the Scott
Edwards book, and the Kuhnel & Zahnert book. I haven't heard anything
bad about any of them and Parallax sells them all. Naturally, I like
mine, but what do you expect :-)

I think you'll enjoy the Stamp. Hope you have fun!

If you want to eventually do robot stuff, the Board of Education and a BS2E
is a good starting point. You can either buy the board and Stamp, or get the
BoEBot kit and get all the robot stuff too...
