Receive Serial Data, store and Print

Can a BS-1 or BS-2 Receive serial data then store it on a RAMB board and then
send the data received to one of those ELab (I think EDE300 or EDE1400) chips
that convert the serial data to parallel to print it to a printer for
printout. This will only have to store one batch of data per report and then
the next batch of data received can replace the orginal data stored in the
RAM.
If anyone has any direction and which chip will do this or both I would like
some direction to get started. I have the concept but that's all now.
Thanks,
John
