Programming a stamp from a Hand Held PC

Hello gang,

I have an IBM z50 Workpad handheld PC which has a serial port. It runs
Windows CE and I have installed pocketDOS and the Stamp II downloader
software to program my Stamp II. When I go to download a program to the
stamp from my workpad the stamp just sort of freezes and the PC says hardware
not detected. The Stamp II stops functioning as if it is getting some sort
of signal from the z50. Does any one have a suggestion as to what I might
try to get my serial port to communicate with my Stamp II?

My WorkPad has a funky serial connector which has a female connector on the
end designed to interface with a PC 9 pin male connector. So to connect the
two female serial connectors of the Stamp carrier board and my Z50 together I
simply cut strips of stiff wire so the two female connectors could connect
together. Does anyone think that my problem could be in my connector? It
should not be a problem if it just connects straight though, right?

Thank you all for your input,
-Justin Ratliff
