Box or case for 4x20 LCD display

Hi,

I am looking for a box that will fit a 4x20 LCD display, but that is nice
looking, to be installed in vehicles. Ideally this would have curved lines
and a good visual appearance, not just a rectangular ABS box with a hole cut
in.

Any ideas, info, comments, etc?

Cheers all,

Mike

    Mike,

Check out: http://www.pactecenclosures.com. They have many nice enclosures
and may have something that will meet your needs.

    Good luck,
    Max

I don't know if they'll meet your aesthetic requirements, but for
durability you can't beat the Hammond die cast aluminum boxes. Reasonably
    priced, too. Check:

    http://www.hammfg.com/

Digikey (and many others) sells these.

    Best, Duncan

    Howdy,
They have several cases that look like they would be good for some projects
of mine. But, I doubt I would ever buy more than a dozen cases. Have you
ever bought low volumes of their cases and where did you get them. Some
companies don't like to deal with small volumes, so I am asking here first.
    Thank you,
    Ralph Green, Jr.

<http://www.radioshack.com/> is a distributor of PacTec enclosures. I
don't know if they carry every model or if they have what you want,
but Radio Shack does cater to the small volume customer.

Rose/Bopla Enclosures has a line of nice curvy enclosures in their
keyboard line, with several depths and L x W combinations. They
resemble the shape of the pac-tec enclosures RS sells, but, in my
humble opinion, they are much more modern in appearance, with no
fasteners showing. Unfortunately, there are no images of them on
their web site. I have purchased single pieces up to hundreds from
    them.

    Hi all,

Thanks to all who responded regarding the enclosurers, I have more options
    to choose from now :-)
As a matter of interest, I've found a local manufacturer with a curious
method for making the box you want in low quantities (25, for example).
They start with a large (6x8 meters) sheet of ABS plastic, some 20cm deep,
and have a custom NC machine that cuts out the cases in whatever curved
shape you want from this sheet.

    Cheers,

    Mike
