Hi folks,
Sorry for the off topic distraction but I really don't know who else to ask
these two questions...
Firstly is there any software available to convert WAV files to MP3?
Secondly does anyone know if it is possible to play video cd's on a high-end
laptop fitted with CD/DVD drive? Pointers to sites or information on what
software I need to purchase would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Bill

Yes, it used to be neccessary to convert redbook CD audio files (.cda) to
.wav before encoding them as .mp3's. This process is known as ripping and
the intermediate format is no
longer required. For more info:

Absolutely, this is one of the major selling points of the DVD
drive-equipped notebooks. Although they make pretty small (and expensive)
home theatres (!). Check any of the major manufacturers ie. Compaq, Toshiba...
Best, Duncan
have a DVD drive to 'play' movie dvd's, a 'high-end'
cd won't work. not with dvd's anyway.
I'll add a question to this ot, does anyone know of
a software program that will take in composite video
and make a "story board" like file that can be edited
like a film editor might use?? tia and sorry if this co-ops
everything.
