Reading a pressure transducer signal with a bs2 stamp.

·i have a pressure transducer that gives an output between 1volt and 4volts that is proportional to a varying pressure applied to the transducer.
·does anyone know how this varying voltage (and pressure) may be read by the bs2?
·the way varying·resistance can be read using the rctime feature, is the type of thing that would be ideal.
· i would appreciate any assistance.

I think you are going to need to use an ADC.

you will need an a/d converter, look in the stamp apps on parallax's web
site, it gives hookup and programming instructions for an ltc device (12
    bits)

I want to measure and record the change in hydraulic pressure in one of the
servo cylinders of an automatic transmission relative to transmission output
    speed.
I am intending to store the two values consecutively in the stamps EEPROM
and then read them after the end of the vehicle test run.

What pressure transducer are you using?

Transducer is an Omega PX181-500G5V. Although it handles pressures up to 500
p.s.i. and outputs up tp 5V, I am working up to a lower pressure.

I've not heard of that one before. I'm looking for a pressure transducer
that will give an output for 1 atmosphere to vacuum. Can you tell me where
you got this sensor from? I'll like to look into it.

Paul, depending on your application and if it is auotmotive in
nature, you may want to look at a pressure/vacuum transducer that is
installed on a turbocharged Buick Grand National. It uses a 5 volt
reference value, but I can't recall the upper pressure limit.

I am also looking for a similar sensor. There are a number of them
at DIGI-KEY . Reference voltage of 5 volts output between0.25 and
    4.5v at 15psi.

use the mpx series from newark.
for 1ams to vacuum you need a psia transducer.
    pounds per square inch absolute.

Prof. Anderson has these for less and doesn't require a minimum order. Check:

    and click 'ordering information'.
