OT: interfacing a nv static rom chip with a hp48

Hello,
I know this is way off topic, but i need some help interfacing a
HP48G+ to a simtek stk16c88. from what i can tell, the hp48 uses regular
rs-232; it has 4 pins, a shield, tx, rx, and gnd. any points in the right
direction would be much appreciated. thanks in advance
