Hi,
I'm new to the list but am very excited about joining. I have a
basic knowledge of electronics and am eager to learn what I can.
I am building a mobile robot and want to incorporate audio. Does
anyone have any information about interfacing a basic stamp with an
IDS33240? This is a 240 second single chip voice record/playback
device with adressable memory. Radio shack sells these and are
reasonably priced ~ $20.00.
Any information or advice would be welcome.
Thanks,
Rusty

Here some of the features of the QV301
. a single part type works devices from the ISD33060 to the ISD4004-16
. allows access to up to 127 messages (depending on addressing mode)
. four addressing modes, resistor programmable
. small footprint 14pin DIP (14pin SOIC available for large quantities)
. low power dissipation: <2mA at 5V, less than 1uA in power down mode
. automatic power down of ISD device after each operation
. mute/amplifier control/busy pin
. built-in switch debouncing
. built-in sequential record mode for initial ChipCorder setup
. automatic sensing of number of phrases when used with our recording
software
. free recording software from our website
. intended for use with simple switch inputs, but can be driven by a
microprocessor custom function development available
I am quite pleased with it and the service.
Good luck, Gene.

I suggest you look at the controller chip made by Quadravox.
http://www.quadravox.com
This simplifies building a vocabulary and addressing it with
the Stamp. They supply software to build your own vocabulary.
There are also some pre-recorded sound files.
A shortcoming is that the words/phrases at the beginning of
the list are accessed faster than those at the end. They have
a kit with an ISD chip for about $45. if I recall correctly.
Good luck.
