BASIC Stamp II & PS/2 mouse

Hi all,
Currently I use an onscreen keyboard
(http://www.imgpresents.com/mytmouse/mtm.htm) to operate my PC. However I
am sick to death of it locking up my PC and not being able to control 32
bit dialog boxes and the like.
What I am planning to do is hook up a PS/2 mouse and LCD to a BASIC Stamp
II and then connect the Stamp through to the mouse/keyboard port. The LCD
would display a keyboard layout and the mouse would allow you to select a
character which is then converted to the correct sequence of scan codes and
then sent on to the PC. I am thinking of using a 3 button mouse with the
centre button being used to switch the mouse between the LCD or sending the
codes through to the PC.
I realise this is quite ambitious but I do have a fair bit of experience
with programming and electronics and _really_ need a hardware solution. My
only downfall is I'm new to BASIC Stamps and I don't know if the Stamp can
handle the data rate from the mouse etc...?
Any advice/ideas for this project would be appreciated.
Regards,
Jean-Michel.
