DC motors

Hello, all.
··· I managed to find some cheap DC motors for a STAMP-driven robotics project, but I can't identify the type of motors or how they work.
The first is labeled "servo motor - tachometer generator", note: it's not like a standard RC servo It has eight leads: red, orange, brown, yellow, white, black, gray, blue
The second is labeled "Veriswitch" made by Rerkin-Elmer (no·info on their website).· It has a 24 pin connector and 6 other leads, but they don't ohm out like a unipolar stepper would.
-Thanks.
Erik

    Sounds like steppers to me.

It does sound a lot like a stepper motor. But that's pretty much okay. You should be able to tell if it is a stepper motor by manually turning the output shaft. If it is a stepper motor it should move in fairly obvious increments instead of a smooth motion. If it is a stepper motor you can have it act similar to a regular motor by tying all of the inputs and outputs together. That is assuming that·it is he only type I have encountered.
