Hi Chris:
There is no reason that a Stamp cannot drive a small SCR. Use a resistor
between the stamp and SCR gate. Its value depends on the SCR gate trigger
current, (subject to Stamp pin current limitations). Larger SCRs could be
driven with a stamp-controlled transistor. Remember that if the SCR is in a
DC circuit, it will stay on until the anode current is reduced to zero.
