Express PCB Software

Dear All,

I am coming close to the end of the injector controller
project using the 8254 Interval timer a frequency to voltage
converter, and ADC.

I plan to create PCB with all the devices and use the
Basic 11 OEM board to plug into it. The OEm board has
twenty pins but when using the Express PCB software I
am not able to locate a component with 20 holes in a row.

Can anyone recommend software to do the above?

Just drop 20 pads at the correct spacing onto your form. Make pin 1 square
(for reference) and the others round. You can "grab" them all and then group
them (I think group is in the Edit menu). Once they're grouped, you can
treat it like any other component.

are these 20 pins in s straight line? if so place 20 pads of the correct
size, or place (2) of the 10 pin sip packages where needed.

Can you just use a standard dip in say an 18 or 16 pin format and add the
extra holes manually? turn on snap to grid, and set the grid to .1 inchs and
snap to spacing also to .1 inch's and the holes will be perfectly aligned.I
have made many PC;s now using express pcb and found all the holes to come
out properly that I had laid manually. The only problem with manual holes is
if you want to drag and drop your IC to a differant area.I would advise
getting your board 90% accurate in case you do have to make any movment
changes. If you dont need a dip, pick a molex 8 pin socket and put two of them
in a row for 16,and then add 4 manual holes,or a 4 hole molex. These are all
on .1 inch centers. I did this for the output of peter andersons homebrew
stamp to get all 16 Stamp pins in a row. I simply used two,8 pin molex layouts.
I made a board last week and forgot to set the board edge dimensions. What
a pain I had moving dozens of componets for the correct board size.Dont
    forget this essential step <S>
    Awl.

I'm a fan of eagle cad. It's expensive, but the "small board" version is
free and full featured. Unless I misunderstand your application, it should
    be fine.

No, just place 20 holes properly spaced in a row and your done. Simple
    solution.
