LCD-Wirz

I just assembled a Seiko display to a Wirz serial board, both from MP Jones.
The Wirz is called SL1-OEM. I tried to run it from a BS1 with serout
commands. It is supposed to autodetect true or inverted input, but I can
only get some text display at 1200N, garbage at 2400. Clearing the screen
with chars 10,13 displays garbage. Also, it will not display more than 8
chars on a 1x16 display. The Wirz docs are poor. Is it possible that the
Wirz needs "pacing" as a BS2 can do? I have successfully run several
different serial VFDs from the BS1, but am new to serial communications.
Can someone give me a clue?

Thanks,
Ray McArthur

    Update:
I got the display working using control commands from Scott Edwards bakpak
docs, but I still only get 8 of the 16 characters. It happens for all
column settings of the dip switches at or above 16 chars. Does this mean I
have busted hardware, or is there more to know?

    Thanks,

    Update to the update:

Got it working all columns! It must be a "split 2x8" display that Scott's
docs talk about for some 1x16 units. Had to set dip switches for "1 row
    split" and 8 columns.

    Thanks, anyhow.

    HI Ray,

It sounds like you have a few problems.

    1. Check your DIP Switch settings. Chances are you've got something wrong
there. I know they can be really confusing.

    2. The 16x1 LCD from MPJA is wired as an 8x2. Check the docs and make sure
the LCD line setting on the SLI-OEM switches are correct.

    3. 10, 13 will not clear the screen. Use a Form Feed Character or send
    0x0FE, 0x001 to clear it.

    Good luck,

    myke
