searching for hyperlinks??????

I receive the EGroup stamp mail list messages in digest form. My mailreader
is Outlook Express. Last night I received two rather lengthy digests, one 81
messages long and one 100 messages long . As I went to read each one I get a
message on the status line saying 'Searching messages for hyperlinks'
Further investigation of all my archived maillist digests, including the
EGroup one, shows that this always happens but usually so quickly I never
saw it happen before last night. Can anyone tell me how to turn this
obnoxious 'feature' off? It took up to a minute to complete on last night's
digests and hogs so much system resource that it is impossible to even
scroll through the messages while it is functioning.
Any advice would be appreciated.
