Sharp IP detectors, which one?

hello All: I was looking at the sharp IR range detectors for the stamp II
It looks like I can buy a digital output range,or an analog output detector.
Which ones are easier to interface with the stamp from a software standpt?
If I used analog(GP2D12) would the stamps analog input work here?. My
problem is monkeying with a digital string value of range and trying to get
something usefull out of that for my robot when using the GP2D02. I can
understand analog in my mind easier. Also where is a good place to buy these
sensors? I found acroname.com Prices are not to bad there, but another web
author says they can be had for under $10. Acroname wants $21 digital and
$13.50 for the analog version. (Of course the web author is unavailable.)
Thankyou to everyone
Sincerely
Kerry

If you are trying to use the IR for s guidance problem look inot the MOtorola
MC33030 chip it has it all built in..I use plain silicon cells from Alltronics
    with good success
i mounted 4 of them in a "pyramid" and potted them so they are waterproof in
    resin.
the result is a X-Y tracker.

No the Mc33030 is a motor control Ic very cheap and very simple using all analog

. you can look it up via " IC master "
For use with detector diodes it has a built in amp and comparitor, also has full
    H bridge
I like it 'cause it's cheap and simple..

Actually, the GP2D02 (we call our kit the "Digital Infra-Red Range-
finding System" or "DIRRS") is much simper to use on the Stamp.
The DIRRS kit comes with BS2 code that makes it a snap to use.
You could use the GP2D12, but you'd need an external A/D which
is often more trouble than it's worth.

for details. You can take advantage of the difference between the
US and Canadian currencies and get an automatic 35% discount

Isn't there for different types of sharp detector? Two new one? I've seen
    four at www.acroname.com
