looking for small dc air pumps

Hi, I'm just starting out designing a miniature hydroponic garden.· Does anyone know
any good sources of small, dc powered air pumps?· I found some a Sensidyne's
web sight that looked good but will they sell me (very small) quantities?· Or better
yet give out samples?· I have never done anything like this before so I am pretty
ignorant.· I am looking for something under 2" square and cheap as possible.· Needs
to blow bubbles in 1" deep water resevoir.

thanks,

paul.

I thought of that but the ones I've seen are ac powered- ie they have a
    built in
transformer. I would like to power everything from one power supply
    (lights, fans, air
    pump, water pump, etc.....)

thanks for the reply, though. Have you seen any dc powered aquarium pumps?

    thanks

You'll probably find what you need at a sporting goods store. I've seen a
battery powered air pump for keeping minnows alive in transit. The usual
aquarium pumps are AC and use a vibrator that makes them hard to convert to
    DC.

Hmm, never heard of a throme.· Maybe when I get the Edmund Scientific pump I'll
try pumping air with it.· Unfortunately, I'd like it to be pumping most of the time, whereas
the water pump will only be on for 6 hours a day max.· thanks for the reply

    Paul, Amy, Izzy:

I don't know exactly what you are up to, but one way to provide oxygenation
'for free', i.e. without the additional pump, would be to add a venturi
fitting to your pump discharge line. Place the pickup for the venturi
within the reservoir itself, to avoid back-flow problems. The reduced
pressure from the venturi throat will aerate the pump flow.

For a state of the art, full-featured hydroponic system see
    www.NAHydroponics.com

    Best regards
