Analog joystick help, buttons not working.

Hey

I am interfacing a Analog joystick (Flightstick Pro, 1995) with my javlin, and I· have the X/Y axis working perfectly..

Using http://www.parallax.com/dl/appnt/jav/class/AppnoteAnalogJoystick.PDF· for help, I cannot figure out how to get the buttons working.· The class has support fo buttonX and buttonY, butwhen I run the program, debug says buttonX is not pressed, and Y is always pressed, and no matter what··button I press, nothing changes.· The joystick has 3 buttons onstick, a 4 dir top-hat, and a trigger.

Any ideas?· Is it possible that I need·to change the pins· around from the DB15F on the joystick to other· pins?

Any hints?

Jon Williams wanna jump· in· on this?? :-)

Sure, I'll jump in -- I think you need to crack open your joystick to deduce the pinout, or maybe you can find one on the 'Net somewhere. The joystick class works with old, simple X/Y/2-button joysticks (and they're really hard to find now).

Ok, what do you mean by deduce the pinout? I traced all the wires inside the stick, to each button, but after the AD IC's i couldnt figure out what pin they went to the DB 15F with, theres 3 analog to digital converters inside the stick. Later if I cant figure it out ill post a few pics so maybe you could better direct me?

    Thanks

Although Im delighted to say, the XY axis worked perfectly the first time! smile.gif But this stick has so many buttons, I have a feelings it will take a while to figure it out.. I need to find a place to get a few DB15F connectors, i snaped one off an old soundcard, so theres not much to work with and desodering will probably ruin it. hehe

It might be easier to open up the joystick....
