Hi,
I need to choose a board for the Javelin Stamp : The Board of education or the
Javelin Demo Board ?

And , if it is possible, could you tell why ?

Thanks, Joe burger.gif

If it is your first javelin, I would order the javelin starter kit

that includes a javelin demo board. This board has an integrated

ttl-rs232 level converter chip and SUBD9 female connector which

is most handy for pc connections. Also includes male/male nullmodem

adapter, cdrom and programming cable if I am correct.

Check out the parallax website for it.

    regards peter

Yes, It is the first Javelin but I have
a board of education and I would like to know
if it could be used with the Javeling.

Any damage problem if I use the Board of edu. ?

    No problem.

Both javelin and BS have identical pin layout.

Regarding using the BOE with the Javelin.

Yes, the Javelin will work fine with this board -- however, you should be aware that the Javelin prototyping board has an 'extra' serial port on it.· The reason is that unlike the BS2, where you can use the programming port as a general-purpose comm port to your PC, the Javelin's programming port is dedicated to programming and debugging.

So, if you use a BOE with it, you'll need to add a MAX-232 chip and capacitors to get a general-purpose comm port for your application.·

It is theoretically possible to get Parallax to sell you a Javelin prototyping board without a Javelin in it, but the pricing is high.· I went this route myself (using a BOE) and now I regret not having that second Comm port.
