I wanted our membership to know that we can move a thread to a more appropriate forum if needed. Send an email to ForumAdmin@parallax.com and we'll take care of it for you.

    When a thread is moved (at the request of a user, or more significantly, by a moderator), is the original (or other) posters notified of the move? (so they know where to look)

    John,

    ·· Usually the original poster is notified as to the move, and why, but it's difficult to let anyone else know of the move.· A little trick you can use is to go to the member list and find the user's profile.· If the post was within their last 5 posts you can link to it from there.

    Notifying eveone on the list would entail emails to everyone in the original (source) forum and another batch of emails to everyone in the new (target) forum. That's a lot of messages for a move. Let's see how others members feel about getting a move notification.

    I was more concerned about the originators notice. Just recently saw one moved, and the thought hit me. As far as other posters, if they keep "caught up", the "unread messages" indicator should get them where they need to be. The searching could also be used.

    Thanks for the answers (the make sense, and I wouldn't worry abut trying to send out a bunch of e-mails to everyone).

    Not to try to divert this thread, but what does everyone see on this thread in the spaces normally reserved for the "<Previous Thread | Next Thread>" messages at the top and bottom of the thread? (and the award for the most uses of the word "thread" in a single sentence goes to...)

    I've seen this behavior ("missing navigation")·a couple of times.

    Tom;

    I am running a long process here at work, and am bored, so I did some poking around.

    The navigation tags are "smart".· If you go to the first thread, the "previous thread" is gone, same thing on the last thread.

    In the case of this thread, it is a "sticky" thread, and I beleive this is the reason that there is no Previous/Next link.

    I thought it was something like that but the inner retentive in me was bemoaning the missing "]" on the bottom set of navs.
