E2PROM Interface?

My brother had a buch of stored IC and I cam across

X2816CP-20
16K (2048 x 8bit)
5 Volt
Byte alterable E2PROM

I would like to find a datasheet for it but to do that I need to register for nearly $100, but if anybody here had any experience with interfacing an E2PROM to a BS2, or could obtain a datasheet for me, let me know

Ive seen simular things for sale at "Fry's electronics" you might have a look on their website (outpost.com) although I doubt there will be anything on there seeing as they dont even list IC's on the website.

Hello from GCL better known as Buck Rogers
Also try Xicor, that's one of their E2EPROM chips. Try www.xicor.com , it also might be made by a different company as well. Try running that part number through the Google search engine. Ignroe those sites that demand you pay to register.

In fact I have one here, but its not made by Xicor. But I can't remember its company name.

Found the data sheet :)

DESCRIPTION
The Xicor X2816C is a 2K x 8 E2PROM, fabricated with
an advanced, high performance N-channel floating gate
MOS technology. Like all Xicor Programmable nonvolatile
memories it is a 5V only device. The X2816C
features the JEDEC approved pinout for byte-wide
memories, compatible with industry standard RAMs,
ROMs and EPROMs.
The X2816C supports a 16-byte page write operation,
typically providing a 300ms/byte write cycle, enabling the
entire memory to be written in less than 640ms. The
X2816C also features DATA Polling, a system software
support scheme used to indicate the early completion of
a write cycle.
Xicor E2PROMs are designed and tested for applications
requiring extended endurance. Inherent data retention
is greater than 100 years.

FEATURES
• 90ns Access Time
• Simple Byte and Page Write
—Single 5V Supply
—No External High Voltages or VPP ControlCircuits
—Self-Timed
—No Erase Before Write
—No Complex Programming Algorithms
—No Overerase Problem
• High Performance Advanced NMOS Technology
• Fast Write Cycle Times
—16 Byte Page Write Operation
—Byte or Page Write Cycle: 5ms Typical
—Complete Memory Rewrite: 640ms Typical
—Effective Byte Write Cycle Time: 300ms
Typical
• DATA Polling
—Allows User to Minimize Write Cycle Time
• JEDEC Approved Byte-Wide Pinout
• High Reliability
—Endurance: 10,000 Cycles
—Data Retention: 100 Years

It also gives the more technical lowdown on all of the features.
Anybody have any links that would help me interface this?

Is there a difference between interfacing an EEPROM as opposed to an E2PROM (what's the difference)??

Excuse the caps.

The xicor is parallel interface with direct parallel addressing so it would be a major job to make it work with a serial interface.

He has trouble reading the lower case characters...I think everyone's gotten used to it by now from the Yahoo Group.

Jeff (HOPS),
For future reference, you can use www.partminer.com to look up parts and you do not have to pay to register. I have an account that will allow me to find parts from the part number listed on the package. This is an excellent website to research IC's and discrete (JFET's, Bipolar's, etc.).

I see, I thought maybe his keyboard was messed up. I used my old keyboard so much that the space bar wore out (and most of the lettering wore off as well), you about had to hit it with a sledge hammer to get it to work lol.gif .
