It also makes it easier to decide whether to read that particular email if I'm tight on time. I've gotten to recognise many of the regular poster's names and there are many members who's messages I *always* read, even if I'm not directly interested in the topic being discussed. Their information is just too valuable to miss.

Thanks for your comments. I am really trying to figure out all the different ways people use the email feed produced on this site. Knowing *why* they do things is very helpful. We're working on the design to support replies back to the forum. As you might guess, it's a little more complicated than sending to a list when a new post arrives.

of little interest and I might delete... unless they are from ceratin people.
I almost *always* read read posts by Jon Williams.. regardless of subject, because experiance has shown
I'm likely to learn something useful, and Jons posts have a good S/N ratio.
I almost always read read Tracy Allens posts... because I need the math help. Especially in the Stamps
weird "Positive Integer Only" world.... and Dr Allen definately has a way with math.
Quite often the "poster" is as important as the "subject" in determing what's likely to be most interesting in
the information barrage.
It's nice to have the users email address for pmailing about off topic subjects, but I can understand why folks
don't want their email address to be too public in this world of spam...
email address should be optional, but a user name is really a must if possible.
I really apreciate the enrgy you folks have put into making the email thing work. It's so much more efficient
for some of us than the web forums. With a good email program, dealing with posts is fasst, like a Ferrari.
The web forums are llike a moped by comparison. Much harder to keep up on the ol' info super-highway...
Thanks for keeping the email alive!

Is there a way to message/email individuals in this forum using some sort of forum messenger?
Basically, if I wanted to contact suchandsuch a person directly without them having to give out their personal emails then I could leave them a message that they would get notification of through the forum subcription method or when they log on next time they'd see some messages waiting for them.
An idea....that's all!
