USB Ports "COM" stopped working on all computers
Hello,
Had been using my BSP2's for almost a couple of decades. Any computer that I have Basic Stamp software works perfectly fine.
Last week I connect my Board of education with a BSP2x that I had been working for a couple of months and it showed "Basic Stamp not found". I connect it to another USB port and after many trials it just show "invalid port"
This is a computer that hasn't been connected to internet for over 15 years as it is used only for small electronic projects.
I ended installing the CD from 2007 and the same thing happened
I then switched to another computer that has the software for many years and the same thing happened. Re-installed the software and the same thing happened.
Ended up re-installing the software on my daily computer and installed the software from fresh online download from Parallax and it worked!, but after about 2 minutes, the software froze and when uploading the program again to the board of education it showed the same thing "invalid port"
No mater what Basic Stamp software I use since 2007 till the one currently online and any type of computer, it is disabling all the USB ports "COM" on all the computers.
Do you know what is the problem here?
Thanks!
Just wanted to add that I changed, cables, Board of education, and multiple microprocessors.. all basic trouble shooting but it still didn't work..

Have you tried different USB cables? I lost communication to my P2 recently and tried different ports to no avail. Only when I changed the cable it connected! OOPS I just read you did change cables. Disregard this
I'll add that two cables can be faulty at once.
Some software will disable a port if an error occurs. Think Prop tool does this, but gives you a warning first...
If that is it and can't figure out how to clear it, can change com port # in device manager...
