Is there a Flip breakout board?

Is there a Flip breakout board, similar to this one?

Ideally with large capacitors for servos.

  • We used to have the FLiP-Pi shield (pronounced FLiPPY!). That seems similar.

Part number was 32343. I wonder if anyone got one... it didn't seem to last long.
I could dig up the gerbers if anyone wanted to order boards like this; though maybe it's a bit specific.

Oh wait... even better is something that's currently available :)

Part #32120 is a kit with the PCB and headers:

As I'm a fan of the P2 Accessory Boards, I made this for myself.

  • These are all interesting choices, but what comes closest is the now-discontinued Sumobot board:
    https://www.parallax.com/product/sumobot-wx-board/

Big capacitors for servos, pins broken out to servo headers, boost regulator, power switch, power LEDs. However because the board was purpose-designed for the Sumobot, many of the pins are set up for sensors, wifi module, etc, so not available for general use.

I may have to design this one myself, but that's definitely on the back burner.

  • That SumoBot board was awesome. (Even if I do say so myself!!).

I'd like to bring it back one day in some form or another. The big caps kept the FLiP alive with a smart brownout circuit to route in "extra" power when needed - the runtime of the SumoBots with that
board was extended by a very large margin.

The WiFi programming and control option worked out really nicely too. I was pretty gutted to see the market move toward the el-cheapo micro:bots, but I suppose that's the world we live in. Cheap rules over quality and being fit-for-purpose has assumed a very broad definition!
