Parallax Open House

Anyone planning to attend from the forums?

https://www.parallax.com/parallax-open-house-and-developer-day-save-the-date-for-may-2nd-and-3rd/

Anyone made the trip before (from outside USA)?… How did you arrange transport? Group bus rental and hotel deal ?

I will probably attend, especially if my colleague Josh (laser tag) decides to fly in. I'm also pretty sure that if his schedule allows, Rick Galinson (movie magician who's puppeteering a P1-controlled monster on set right now) will come.

Would love to meet some guys here IRL, but IDK how I'd get there from Germany. Certainly someone'd have to sponsor their guest room.

(I see someone silently edited out my concerns about safety regarding current US political situation - very cool, say it to my f‌ucking face you coward)

  • I certainly want to attend. Fortunately I live within range in Northern California. This has been a long time coming, exciting!

  • Hello!
Let's just say I am thinking about it.
At the moment, I only have one working Prop 1 project, that camera board trigger one, and of course the Prop Backpack functions that our friend created with an attending Basic Stamp are the others. But given time and all the rest of it, I might have one other.
    Mascots watching.

An expo had been planned for Spring 2022, but COVID-19 nixed that. I believe the last expo was in 2012. Is that right? It was a big event through a couple of days, Stamp and Prop 1. I found this overview,
    https://makezine.com/article/technology/robotics/experiencing-the-parallax-expo/

I recall that a lot of out of town people stayed at a nearby hotel, the Staybridge in Rocklin, I think, and they car pooled over to Parallax.

Michael, if you come into one of our local airports, someone, myself very possibly, would be happy to pick you up.

  • Thank you Tracy. I remember all the talk of expos in the past, and was hoping to attend that 2022 event as it would have been my first chance to join a Parallax event like that.

Will be a fabulous chance to meet all the people behind the names here!

Maybe @erco will attend with some flamethrowers! I seem to remember he, and some other pyromaniacs, coming up with some curious devices to cause all sorts of mischief!

What about @Baggers and @Coley ... is a trip to Rocklin possible for you guys ? Could this be a chance to see the 8 player P2 Arc8de in action?

I'd have thought we'd have time to order a bunch of plywood (or delrin) parts from local suppliers, so kits could be available on the day ?

Thanks for the heads up on this VonSzarvas, keeping my fingers crossed I can make the arrangements to attend.

:D Going off the time of my post?
No, I'm still at my desk @ 3am UTC (I work stupid hours)

Won't be over the pond for a few months, yet.

This sounds great! I've been out off the grid for a bit but thanks to Jeff Hass for looping me in. The last Expo was a thrill a minute! I will put this on my calendar and hope to make it.

Pretty sure we can have a sleepover at Ken's house: telling ghost stories, doing each other's hair and listening to Taylor Swift songs all night.

Wait, I'm mixing up events with my twin girls...

    LOL!
seriously though - I'd love to be there, slumber party aside.

I fear I am so far out of the loop lately though...

    No better reason to come!

Feels like most people have fallen out of almost every loop the last few years, trying to rebuild life and work after the covid nonsense. This year is probably the first time in 3-4 years I'm starting to see a bit more of a humane timetable to life!

I'm hoping to take the chance to reset and reconnect a bit more with Propeller ideas and the community. Enjoy some banter, discover what's happening in each own worlds, and with any luck raid the Rocklin BBQ !!

There's signs of a couple interesting product launches too, and Chip might well have a presentation on some long desired updates to the p.x.o.x.o.x.o. (darn, I've been censored!)

Would be so so cool if anyone with Propeller based products, or home-made P1/P2 devices, could bring and show them too. Plenty of tables for everyone to put things on display for the day, and answer questions only if they feel up to it,- ha- and are not busy mingling elsewhere!!

Can we do the robot maze challenge again?

Would like another shot at that…
